Our Story

In 2007,  a vision to provide an environment where young children could be nurtured, educated and cherished in a loving environment by highly qualified and experienced practitioners was conceived.

Having registered with Ofsted,  HLC opened its doors in August 2007. Within 9 months, in July 2008, Ofsted judged the nursery Outstanding. The demand for places was such that in the summer of 2008 additional staffing was required. Within 12 months the waiting list for places was long and larger premises were required.

New premises were found in Brighouse just two miles from the original provision. In February 2010  contractors began converting the office block into a modern day care provision. The doors to the new nursery were opened in May 2010 and existing children moved from Hipperholme and the small existing nursery closed.

Just 5 months later in October 2010 Ofsted inpsected the much larger nursery and again judged the new provision Outstanding.

Business Awards followed for the new nursery.

The philosophy of the nursery has always been “taking care of the future.” This is echoed throughout the nursery every day. Children follow their own interests, outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and develop the building blocks for the 'next steps' in their learning. Children learn through play both indoors and outdoors (in all weathers putting on their coats and wellies, or sunglasses and sunhats), in the vast outdoor environment. There is always a suitable balance of child initiated and adult led learning practice.

The nursery was inspected in September 2018 and again judged to be Outstanding.

The nursery was inspected in September 2023 and judged to be a Good Provider.
